St John’s Special School and College is an all age special school, many of our pupils who attend have severe and complex learning difficulties.
We ensure that pupils are safe, happy, respectful, motivated and are equipped with the key skills, so they can lead a fulfilling life. Our school has a dedicated and skilled staff team who are committed to providing a stimulating positive learning environment for all our pupils. We aim to develop the multitude of skills our pupils have, enable them to explore their talents and to prepare them for lifelong learning and their future lives.
Our curriculum is personalised and is divided into different pathways to ensure each pupil receives the curriculum best suited to their needs. Staff provide learning opportunities to ensure pupils achieve highly, develop their skills and personalities to enable them to become the best. We aim for each pupil to; become as independent as possible, develop effective means of communication, build self-esteem and confidence and form positive relationships with others.
The facilities at St John’s include a hydrotherapy pool, an Interactive Sound and Light room, dedicated ICT facilities, nature garden, rumpus room and a food technology room. Pupils are encouraged to think, explore and participate in the world around them. Our wide range of specialist resources and facilities ensures that appropriate support and guidance is available for all pupils across the curriculum and age range.
