Severn Rivers Trust is the only independent charity dedicated to protecting and restoring the River Severn and its tributaries. We work across the entire river system, from the Welsh mountains to the Severn Estuary, to improve water quality, restore habitats, and safeguard the future of our rivers.

Rivers are under pressure from pollution, habitat loss, and climate change, pushing species like salmon, eels, and white-clawed crayfish to the brink. We take action on the ground, working with local communities, farmers, and businesses to tackle the root causes of river decline.

Through practical conservation, tree planting, river restoration, and community engagement, we’re making a real difference. Every donation helps us do more, from creating wetlands and removing barriers to fish migration to inspiring people to care for their local rivers.

Help us bring our rivers back to life.

Your Impact

Severn Rivers Trust is restoring the health of the River Severn by reconnecting habitats, improving water quality, and protecting wildlife.

We remove barriers to fish migration, enabling species like salmon and eels to access important spawning grounds. We collaborate with farmers, water companies, and industry to reduce pollution and prevent harmful chemicals and excess nutrients from entering our rivers.

Our habitat restoration projects include creating wetlands, restoring natural river channels, and introducing natural materials to enhance biodiversity. We plant trees and hedgerows to stabilise riverbanks, provide shade, and reduce runoff, helping to protect aquatic life.

Volunteers are at the heart of our work. Through citizen science and hands-on conservation tasks, we engage communities and inspire future river guardians through school programmes, family events, and skills development opportunities for aspiring conservationists.

We also empower local communities to take action, supporting initiatives like bathing water protection and partnering with businesses to fund restoration projects. Every step we take helps build cleaner, healthier rivers for wildlife and future generations.
