Our vision is a community in which families and carers have the essentials for their children.
We take pre-loved and new item donations for babies and children up to age 12, and gift them to families facing financial hardship and poverty in Brighton & Hove and wider Sussex.
Pelican Parcels provides everything from beds and clothes, uniform and shoes, to toys and books, prams and play mats, nappies and toiletries and more.
All donations go directly to the families at no cost to them.
In 5 years, we have supported over 20,000 children aged 0-12 and pregnant mothers, reflecting the high level of need and deprivation in our city.
We have five main projects● Parcels 2023: Helped over 5,775 children and pregnant mums by gifting clothing and toys, buggies and beds, nappies and essentials ● School Uniforms 2023: distributed 387 children’s uniform parcels ● Christmas 2023: 3,104 Christmas presents given children and families ● Eid 2024: 623 presents ● Foodbanks 2023: distributed 20k+ nappies and 39 tubs of formula ● Beds: we give out moses baskets, cots & single beds, blanket & sleeping bag sets & bedding bundles. We are giving out over 5 beds a week. ● Books: in November 2023 we began supporting nurseries to give out books to pre-school children, supplying 248 books.
Our volunteers continue to be the beating heart of Pelican Parcels. In 2023/4 they gave us 5,500 volunteer hours which saw 5,775 people supported.
