Genesis Orwell Mencap is an Ipswich based non-profit that is dedicated to supporting adults and young people with learning and physical disabilities with personalised day services. In the 25 years that Genesis has been in existence we have expanded what quality care looks like for people with complex needs. We have a vibrant and stimulating day care centre where service users access a variety of tutored sessions including music, drama, yoga, gardening, and art. We strive to offer dignified care to the Genesis community through the four personal care suites and the experienced support staff that we have at our site. Genesis also has two work experience placements for adults with disabilities to develop vital work based skills. The Garden Furniture Workshop is a placement where adults with disabilities learn how to construct table sets and benches. The Green Bike Project takes in donated unused bikes and refurbishes them to be sold to the the public. Stars holiday club offers respite to children with disabilities during schools break so that they can enjoy their holidays whilst having the support they need.

Your Impact

Genesis has improved the quality of life of adults and young people with disabilities living in our local community. We provide an inclusive environment where service users can build friendships and a sense of community whilst also developing their passions, likes, and hobbies. The enjoyment and fulfillment that service user's gain from these tutored sessions are essential as they simultaneously have their personal and medical care needs met. Life as a disabled adult or child can be extremely isolating so we ensure that we open up their lives to connections, new experiences, and skills.
