20220827 Situation Report – Village Buber, Punial, District Ghizer, Pakistan administered Gilgit Baltistan.
The volunteers of Kashmir Development Foundation (KDF) and partners are delivering emergency relief on the ground in one of the worst floods affected areas, Village Bubar, Punnial, District Ghizer, Gilgit Baltistan. We conducted the initial survey and needs assessment of the people affected by the floods on 25th-26th August 2022.
According to the latest situation report, 11 people have died, 2 people are missing and over 65 houses were damaged, many completely washed away in the flash floods. Over 350 people are accommodated in temporary shelters and accommodations.
We have extensive local knowledge and networks to mobilise support and deliver humanitarian aid in the floods affected area.

Similarly, following the Kashmir earthquake on 8th October 2005 in AJK, in the initial phase of emergency disaster relief, KDF was one of the leading local NGOs delivering humanitarian aid in AJK. As an indigenous Kashmiri NGO, we were able to mobilise our teams one day after the disaster. We utilised our knowledge of the area, and the community-based organisation's network set up through previous interventions to help meet the needs of those affected by the earthquake.

KDF provided coordination and support for a range of national and international emergency relief aid workers and organisations to help in providing emergency shelter to the survivors by providing tents, tarpals and plastic sheets. We distributed 4836 tents, 2900 Tarpals and 4400 plastic sheets for emergency shelter in Muzaffarabad, Neelum, Bagh and Poonch districts of AJK with the help of Kashmir Charitable Trust (KCT), U.K., Kashmir Youth Project (KYP), Rochdale, U.K. and generous donations from several individuals and groups.
