About Friends of the Neuro Ward

Friends of the Neuro Ward works to improve the comfort and care of neurological patients in Aberdeen.

We work closely with the NHS to buy the right "extras" for patients on Wards 204 & 205 at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and the neuro rehab unit (NRU) at Woodend Hospital. This can be large pieces of equipment - from specialist mattresses & scales to shower hoists and bariatric walking bars - to smaller items such as games and activities and home comforts for the patients.

Since our inception in 2013, we've completely refurbished the day room on Ward 205, created a respite room for families and installed wet rooms.

We've also helped set up a support group for neuro patients in Grampian, which is run at Woodend.

We also run a successful Christmas appeal each year, handing out goodie bags to all patients spending the festive period on the wards.

Our charity is run completely by volunteers, meaning every single penny you raise goes directly to supporting patients.
