We are Betknowmore UK, the charity for those affected by gambling. We understand that the harms caused by gambling are unique to every individual, are hard to address, and affect those around them too. That is why we exist to empower individuals, provide hope and support those harmed by gambling.
To make that happen we work in three primary ways. We support those harmed by gambling through our outreach services. We provide the best possible information guided by lived experience. And we raise awareness and aim to prevent the potential harms of gambling through our education and training programmes.
There is a desperate lack of services and support for people across the UK who are negatively affected by gambling every year. Individuals, families and those harmed by gambling face a huge number of challenges on a daily basis. Confronting devastating impacts on their health, finances and relationships, those harmed by gambling are more likely to face emotional issues, stress, anxiety and suicidal thoughts.
With limited support services across the UK, some only serving specific geographical areas or particular groups, those harmed by gambling often lack the ability to get the support and guidance they so desperately need. Additionally, the negative stigma surrounding gambling makes it hard for individuals to seek help. Overwhelmed by the emotional and financial issues gambling can cause, they often lose hope that they will ever be able to lead a positive life again.
We are here for anyone harmed by gambling - supporting them, providing information and raising awareness of gambling’s potential harms through education and training.
£5 donation could contribute to offering 1 to 1 sessions & support groups for people struggling with gambling harms.
£20 enables us to provide bespoke resources for a woman going through our New Beginnings service.
£100 enables us to put on a Health & Wellbeing group workshop which can support up to 12 people in the community.
