Aching Arms

Aching Arms is a charity that gives its comfort bears to hospitals and hospices, for midwives and nurses to offer to bereaved parents in their care. Along with the bears, we also offer a support service to parents after their loss, whether it was during pregnancy, at birth or soon after.

About Aching Arms

Tags:

Aching Arms is a national UK charity that offers comfort and support to bereaved families after losing a baby during pregnancy, at birth, or soon after. We work directly with midwives and nurses at over 195 hospitals nationwide, who, on our behalf, offer an Aching Arms Bear to parents in their care. As well as sending comfort bears to families who contact us directly through our website, we also donate bears to other organisations that support families after baby loss at any stage of pregnancy.
In the turbulent days following the death of a baby, the bear may provide a sensitive conduit for health professionals to support and discuss parents' emotional and well-being needs. There is a label on the bear that directs parents to the charity's website, where they can find support and information.
As well as training health professionals across the country in bereavement care, the charity is committed to developing its highly regarded workplace training programmes. The charity is passionate about training managers across industry, so that bereaved parents and families can receive appropriate care and support in the workplace.

Your Impact

Since 2010 we have donated over 50,000 comfort bears to bereaved parents who have experienced the heart ache of losing a baby during pregnancy, at birth or soon after.
We have launched unique resources for bereaved fathers and recently launched our bear hugs for bereaved siblings.
Aching Arm is a leading baby loss charity, working across the UK to bring comfort and support to bereaved parents and their families.
