Helping families caring for a seriously ill child make We want to help every child and family living with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition get the very best care and support they can so they can make the most of every moment together.
When a child’s life is expected to be short, there’s no time to waste. Together for Short Lives is the UK charity that is here to make sure the 99,000 seriously ill children and their families can make the most of every moment they have together – whether that’s for years, months or only hours. Many of these children have complex conditions and need specialist care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
We stand alongside families, supporting them to make sure they get the vital care and help that they need.
Our Helpline is here for families facing the toughest of times. We offer confidential emotional support and information on a range of issues and provide easily digestible information about available support so families can spend less time searching for help and have more time together. And we connect families with support services and other families who understand what they are going through, so they don’t feel as alone.
Together with our members we champion, improve and support children’s palliative care services and professionals. We have over 1,000 members, including children hospices, voluntary and statutory sector organisations and professionals who care for seriously ill children and families. By working together, we have a strong and unified voice, and help services deliver the best quality care and support tailored to each family’s needs.
We raise awareness and understanding about childhood death and campaign for policy change, so every child and family can get the right care and support.
And we raise vital funds through our collaborative partnerships to ensure that children’s hospice care not only continues, but improves. With the support of our dedicated corporate partners, we have raised over £25 million since 2003 to support children’s hospices across the UK.
As a charity we rely on the support and generosity of individuals, companies, trusts and foundations. With your help we can guide families through the toughest of times and help change lives for the better. Supporting us is simple and vital. Help us to fight for 99,000 seriously ill children out there who have no time to waste.
Getting the right support can make a lifetime of difference. And that’s what we are here for.
Too many families are suffering alone through their child’s short life. Make a donation today and help provide a lifeline for families who care for seriously ill children – now more than ever.
