We protect and support children and young people, providing practical and emotional care and support, ensuring their voices are heard, and campaigning to bring lasting improvements to their lives.
We’re working to improve life for children in the UK. Here’s how
Our vision is that every child and young person has a safe and happy childhood, and the foundations they need to thrive.
We put children at the heart of everything we do. That includes our mission and values. They’re our blueprint for the way we work.
We protect and support children and young people. We do this by providing practical and emotional care and support. We make sure their voices are heard. And we campaign to bring lasting improvements to their lives.
It’s hard to grow, learn and fulfil your potential when you’re hungry or cold, scared or alone.Poverty, abuse and poor mental health are stopping children's stars from shining and robbing the brighter future they deserve.
It is heartbreaking to know there are thousands of children across the UK, who are growing up without the basic things that every child deserves - like a proper bed, warm clothes and healthy meals.
These things don’t just stop children’s stars from shining right now – they can have a lifelong impact.
Together we can help make sure children get the best start in life and have a loving place to call home. We can provide food and warmth in a crisis. We can be there for parents who are struggling. And we can offer the right mental health support, so children thrive.
We take action in three ways.
Intervention. Anyone can get trapped in poverty, abuse or violence. When we spot problems, we take action early. We step in to help children, young people and families before things get worse.
Prevention. We give young people the support they need to grow up safe and happy. Projects like The Blues Programme teach important life skills and help to build resilience. It’s simple and it works.
Advocacy. Children don’t have a say in many things that affect their lives. We listen to what they want. We take their concerns to the government. And we campaign for better support and resources.
Last year, we helped more than 387,000 children and families across the UK.
For every £1 we spend, 87p helps children and families.
Could pay for breakfast and lunch for a child for a week.
Could provide an hour of one-to-one counselling for a child affected by domestic abuse.
Could provide tools to support the mental health and wellbeing of a young person.
