In the months before Olivia died, she decided she wanted to set up an annual event to raise money for research into Neuroendocrine Cancer.
There are very few medical professionals, particularly in the UK, who have expert knowledge in diagnosing and treating Neuroendocrine Cancer. Yet sadly, each year there is a noticeable increase in those being diagnosed. Olivia wanted this imbalance to be addressed.
As Olivia loved running and walking, her idea was to hold an annual 10km run/walk, with shorter route options, so that people of all ages and abilities could join in and have fun. She was instrumental in getting me to run my first half marathon well into my 50s, so maybe she will start something for you too!
While fundraising is optional it is greatly appreciated and we’d love it if you considered getting got involved. If each participant raised just £10, it would make a huge difference – helping us honor Olivia’s wishes by supporting Neuroendocrine Cancer charities and covering some of the setup costs for next year’s event.
