Hi everyone,
October 2025 will the 15th anniversary of my Uncle Gene’s cancer diagnosis. Gene was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML). He has fought heroically through intense pain for 15 years against a rare disease that has no cure.
Over the course of October I plan to run 15 half-marathons to raise awareness regarding CML with a target of raising 15 hundred pounds (£1500). This is 1 half-marathon and £100 for every year Gene has lived with CMML.
I am currently planning to run 11 unofficial half-marathons around Manchester within my work and rugby schedule whilst I will be also be running 4 official half-marathon races thanks to Leukaemia Care charity spots. These will be at Heaton Park (5th), Royal Parks in London (12th), Rugby (19th) and Macclesfield (26th).
My plan is to split the money raised between 3 charities who have been wonderful in helping me set up this challenge and provide me with the information and kit needed to help raise awareness and money. These charities are Leukaemia Care, Leukaemia UK and Blood Cancer UK.
I will be setting up and ig so people can follow the progress over the month and I hope we can do a great thing together. I will be putting out the dates of my unofficial runs and would love to see anybody there who wants to join in.
Lots of love,Will
