The Only Way is Rowing - 'World’s Toughest Row – Atlantic 2025

We are Sheila, Jo, Lorena and Sam, 4 proud Essex women on our own rewilding journey by rowing 3000 miles of hot, fierce & diverse Atlantic ocean, from the volcanic shores of San Sebastian de La Gomera, Spain to paradise in Nelson’s Dockyard, Antigua.

Our Mission is to prove age is no barrier and ordinary women can do extraordinary things. When the race begins everyone in the boat will be over the age of 47 with one member being 60.

Transforming our connection with nature for the planet’s health and the wellbeing of future generations is the biggest challenge we all encounter. We are fundraising for the Wilderness Foundation, Children’s Heart UK, and Rewilding Britain. Each of these charities focuses on supporting our communities, reconnecting us with nature and its healing benefits, offering mental support in a tough world, and encouraging children to engage in sports and life after significant heart challenges, providing assistance before, during, and after their journeys.

We want to inspire women to ignite your passion, find your own challenge or adventure and go for it, knowing that age is no reason not to. is a unique opportunity to demonstrate how critically important the natural world is, and how, by harnessing that little bit of ‘wild’ within all of us, we can push our boundaries to achieve great things.

We are rowing as part of the World’s Toughest Row as they bring together teams from all walks of life united by the same objective: to take on the unique challenge of crossing an ocean in a rowing boat. The atmosphere is electric as people help each other prepare for the challenge of the mighty Atlantic Ocean. Teams battle with sleep deprivation, salt sores, and physical extremes inflicted by the race. Rowers are left with their own thoughts, an expanse of the ocean and the job of getting the boat safely to the other side.

The race offers different experiences to all involved. The challenge creates strong friendships and competitiveness gives way to the camaraderie that is required to complete the challenge. Upon finishing, rowers join a small community of friends that have shared the adventures of an ocean crossing. The mental and physical endurance will result in a life-changing achievement, that will never be forgotten.
