During my year as Mayor of Malmesbury I am raising funds for HEALS of Malmesbury and the Malmesbury and District Foodbank. Both of these charities provide support to people in crisis and longer-term support where necessary. Malmesbury is a great place to live, but nowhere is great for those living in poverty, hardship and isolation.I believe the strength of a community may be judged by how it cares for its most vulnerable members.
During the year I am organising several fund-raising activities. I have walked from Malmesbury, where King Athelstan, first King of England is buried, to Kingston-upon-Thames where he was crowned in 925 CE. Many people joined me, with some stalwarts completing all130 miles. You can still make a donation to reward their efforts, it would be much appreciated.
I'm visiting Bad Hersfeld, one of our Twin Towns in Germany, to join in their celebrations of the Festival of Saint Lull, a monk who trained in Malmesbury and helped convert Germany to Christianity. Malmesbury Mayors have been doing this for 10 years but I will be the first to compete in the "Lulluslauf", a 10km race around the town! I'd be honoured if you could reward this effort with a donation to my charities.
Thank you!

HEALS of Malmesbury is a small charity based in the Old School Room in Malmesbury Town Hall. We support individuals and families in Malmesbury and surrounding villages who may be in poverty, vulnerable or disadvantaged. We help people make positive change by accessing local services and hardship support and work in partnership with a number of local organisations.

We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
