On August 3rd, I’ll be setting off on my longest bike ride yet and first multi-day event….1540km from London to Edinburgh and back to London!
Hopefully it will ‘only’ take 5 days; we’ll sleep in village halls and maybe a bus shelter or two. I’m not sure it’s even possible, but that’s part of the challenge. We’ll go to some dark places and there will be lots of suffering along the way …. Any sponsorship you can give us to send to the charities described below will keep us motivated and make sure we keep turning those pedals! Thanks in advance! If you’re interested in tracking our progress, drop us a message on the day and we’ll share the live link tracker.
I’ll be joining Richard on the last ride of the ‘Eileanoir 10 challenge’ which Richard and Rebecca have created to mark the incredibly sad passing of their daughter.
2025 is the 10th anniversary of Eileanóir's death. The Eileanoir 10 challenge has included a mixture of half marathons, marathons, and multi-day ultra-cycling events across the UK and beyond to help support the charities that mean so much to Team Ebreo.
They are fundraising for both SANDs and Tommys. A bit about both charities from Richard & Rebecca:
During that devastating time we found the SANDS charity an incredible support. SANDs, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, operates across the UK: supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby; working in partnership with health professionals to ensure that bereaved parents and families receive the best possible care; and promoting improvements in practice and funding research that could help to reduce the loss of babies’ lives. On a personal level they provide parents, family and friends as well as healthcare workers with the information and support they need to deal with their grief. This is done through well thought out books, online forums, their website, memorial services, memory gardens and local support groups. We have found all these things a huge help and would therefore like to help this great charity continue their good work.
Tommy's began as a campaign in a spare cupboard in St Thomas’ Hospital, Tommy’s is now the largest UK charity researching the causes and prevention of pregnancy complications, miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth. For more than 30 years, Tommy's have been leading the drive to increase knowledge of the causes of baby loss and premature birth and carry out world-leading research into pregnancy and baby loss.
