Greg's 'double top' Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) Hike

This summer I will be joining my colleagues from Weightmans Liverpool office tackling Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) to raise money for our office charity, the Clatterbridge Cancer Charity.

Around half of our group are taking on the Snowdon 2, a 5 mile, 3 hour hike up the longest route Snowdon has to offer (the Ranger Path), followed by a 4.5 mile descent down into Llanberis.

There are two other groups taking on even tougher challenges. I will be tackling the Snowdon 4.

The Snowdon 4, takes on the same 5 mile Ranger Path to the summit, followed by a 4.2 mile descent down the Miner's path before doubling back up the 3.3 mile Pyg track to the summit for a second time, before descending down 4.5 miles to Llanberis. Totalling 17 miles

The Snowdon 6 group will be taking on a challenge that is far tougher than the National Three Peaks. A 4 mile hike up the Watkin Path (which includes a scramble), followed by a 5 mile descent down the Ranger path to Rhyd-Ddu. From there it is another 3.6 miles back up to the summit for a second time. The hikers will then hike the 4.2 miles down the Miner's path, before circling back up the 3.3 mile Pyg Track to summit for a third time, followed by a weary 4.5 mile hike down to Llanberis. A total of 24.6 miles, with a target time of 12 hours. The total distance is around 2 miles greater than the National Three Peaks, with only around 200 metres less ascent/descent and without any significant rest breaks.
