Running the London Marathon for my mum

In November 2019 my mum – Pat Murray was diagnosed with Colon cancer. After going through surgery to remove the cancer and being fitted with a stoma, she then had her first round of chemotherapy, but this was sadly only palliative treatment. The treatment continued to give mum as much time as possible. So as the first wave of the pandemic waned, I was able to travel to Spain to where mum lived and finally visit. Whilst it was so good to see her, I realised mum also had rapid onset dementia. In some ways this was a blessing, but it also made things harder in a lot of ways.

My lovely mum passed away 6th December 2021 – she always loved my running adventures, so it only seems right that I run the London Marathon 2023 for my mum.
