Chris Railton was an inspiration and wonder to everyone he crossed paths with. A man that always wore the biggest smile. He also had the greatest gift spreading that smile to everyone around him with his quick wit and wicked sense of humour. The love, compassion and empathy Chris showed to all he met could never be matched.
Despite his health troubles his love for life always shone through.
Chris had his first major surgery, a heart bypass at Myrtle Street Hospital at only 15 months old.
At 7 years old Chris had open heart surgery also at Myrtle Street Hospital.
At 21 years old Chris had another open heart surgery this time at Alder Hey Hospital. Even from his hospital bed whilst in recovery Chris showed immense bravery and still managed to smile.
He dedicated his working life to both The Cheshire Police and Northwest Ambulance service both in paid and voluntary roles. His enthusiasm and love for his work seen by all. He genuinely wanted to help as many people as he could.
Chris was only 50 years old but had packed as much as humanly possible into those 50 years, changing many lives and all for the better.
A devoted family man he is survived by both parents, his wife and 4 year old son, Sister nephew and Neice.
Many people family, friends and work colleagues have asked about donations to continue Chris’s legacy so as a family we would like any donations to be split between Alder Hey Cardiac ward and Jump Children’s charity. Money donated to these causes will have a direct impact, providing experiences and resources to put smiles on the faces of families of children needing ongoing medical care.
