Currys ExCo Jurassic Coast Trek for the Digital Poverty Alliance

On 24 June, Currys ExCo :Alex Baldock, Bruce Marsh, Lindsay Haselhurst, Ed Connolly, Nigel Paterson, Paula Coughlan, Andy Gamble and Dean Kramer, will be trekking 12 miles along the Jurassic Coast to raise vital funds for Tech4Families, run with our charity partner the Digital Poverty Alliance (DPA).

Almost half of children are growing up without proper access to the digital world and the life changing benefits it brings.

Digital exclusion remains a critical issue across the UK, worsened by the cost-of-living crisis, which forces families to choose between essential needs and access to technology. This digital divide significantly impacts children’s education, as many lack the necessary devices to participate in online lessons and complete homework, leading to educational setbacks.

In May 2022, we launched the Tech4Families initiative with the aim of bridging this gap by increasing access to digital devices and enhancing digital skills for families in disadvantaged communities. Since launching the scheme we’ve raised over £700k and supported more than 2,000 families. By raising £4,000 we can support a further 22 families access a devise suitable for learning.

Our mission is to help everyone enjoy amazing technology and we want to be a force for good where it matters the most. It’s critical that we help play our part in addressing the UK's digital divide.
