Ron Dearing staff are running the Hull 10K to support charities close to the hearts of two of our members of staff.
The first charity is Freddie's Friends, which was established in memory of Freddie Appleyard by his mum Rachel after he passed away from a rare brain disease, aged 2. Freddie's Friends supports sick and disabled children by providing them with specialist equipment, treatment and toys to make their lives a little easier.
The second charity is Epilepsy UK. Two of Lucy Thompson's children have epilepsy and her daughter, Storey, has complex needs including uncontrolled Lennox-Gastaut (a severe form of epilepsy). We are running for Epilepsy Research Institute so that one day we can find a cure for this life-altering disease.

The Epilepsy Research Institute’s mission is to radically advance research for the 1 in 100 people living with epilepsy. A life free from epilepsy is possible. But only through research.

We know what families of disabled children have to go through on a daily basis, and we know how expensive things can be. That's why we have set up this charity Freddie's Friends. We will raise money through different events, and then will help other special children who need new equipment, or some money for therapy, or just to pay for a short break or a special toy that they would like.
