I am planning a series of fundraising initiatives, the first of which is the Great North Run.However I am committed to raising a minimum of £400 for NHS Charities for this, in addition to what is pledged on Give Wheel. I have had serious liver disease culminating in a "Works Approved Parts Upgrade" in January this year (2025). I am incredibly lucky to be alive and so have committed to putting something back to the community. I have chosen six Charities.Three are Farming or Equestrian Charities as that is my background. Two of the others are NHS Trusts, Leeds Teaching Hospital where I received a liver transplant and amazing support, and Darlington Memorial Trust who unquestionably saved my life. Finally the British Liver Trust, who provide invaluable support to many people with liver disease as well as raising awareness of the fast rising numbers of liver-related issues and how imperative early diagnosis is to achieve positve outcomes. All support will be humbly and gratefully received by all of us. More details about other fundraising ideas will follow. I hope to climb Sgurr na Sgeine, a Monroe (Hill over 3000ft) in Scotland from sea level in November, but will have to see how my recovery progresses from the transplant operation before putting a timeline on that. I am also looking to do some voluntary work with these Charities.
