3 Peaks Challenge - Hiking For Mental Health & Suicide Prevention

On the 6th to the 8th July 2025 a team of us from Bishopsgate School will be taking on the mighty 3 Peaks Challenge, which for those who are not aware include's walking up Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon, back to back with just the drive
in-between! We are currently training for the big event and we are all so excited to conquer this!

We are taking on this challenge with the aim to raise money for mental health and suicide prevention charities. This is a cause very close to our hearts and we know that the effects of mental health touches upon so many peoples lives in many different ways, therefore we hope that you will feel a close connection to this and support us along the way.

We have decided to split any money raised between 3 different smaller/local charities, all of which provide a range of mental health services for their community.

Our 3 chosen Charities are as below;

The Youth Counselling Project - This charity is based in Seaford, East Sussex and is run by a small board of volunteers. Their project works through schools in Seaford to offer specialist counselling to students in primary and secondary education. They source, fully qualified, specially trained, counsellors to deliver their service within schools and work closely with the schools to identify who might benefit from their support. They rely entirely on grant funding from philanthropic organisations, donations from individuals, gifts from local businesses and the fantastic work of fundraisers in the Seaford community.

The Listening Place - Providing a space to talk openly and honestly about suicide is one of the most important things that can be done to support someone who feels life is no longer worth living. Based in London this charity provides free, regular, face to face support with no waiting lists, their dedicated and trained volunteers offer completely confidential support to people who feel that life is no longer worth living. They provide fortnightly sessions lasting 50 minutes and based on principles of active listening, delivered by empathetic and non-judgmental volunteers. Their visitors see the same volunteer each time so that they can build and sustain a trusting relationship. They offer this service to anyone aged 18 or over who feels suicidal and can attend regular appointments at one of their London sites (Pimlico, Hammersmith or King’s Cross)

The Mary Frances Trust - This charity provides free mental wellbeing support to Surrey residents (aged 16+) experiencing any kind of mental or emotional health issues through a variety of services. No waiting lists, no time limits and no GP referral needed. Their services include one to one support, online and face to face wellbeing courses, physical and outdoor activities, wellbeing and creative activities, interest groups, peer support and self help groups, crisis prevention service and many more.

Thank you in advance for all of your support :)
