On the 5th of February 2025, our beloved daughter, sister, and mummy, Joanne Louise Hesketh, passed away due to complications while waiting for her second liver transplant.
To honour her memory, we have created this page to raise money in aid of some organisations that meant a lot to both Joanne and our family.
As a child, Joanne and our family spent time at Derian House Children's Hospice, a wonderful organisation providing care and respite for children with long-term and terminal health conditions and their families. They provided a safe and supportive environment for children and their families, and we have many happy memories from our time there. The support they offered during those years made a lasting difference in our lives.
Joanne underwent her first liver transplant at the age of seven, and the guidance we received from the Children's Liver Disease Foundation (now part of The British Liver Trust) was invaluable. In her later years, Joanne often reflected on how living with long-term liver disease brought challenges that were not always visible or widely understood. Supporting the British Liver Trust means helping to raise awareness and provide vital resources for people facing these hidden struggles.
Joanne was proud to be part of the LGBTQ+ community, and she was passionate about supporting others in that community facing difficult personal circumstances. Organisations like Galop, which provide specialist support for LGBTQ+ individuals experiencing abuse, coercive relationships, and violence, were especially meaningful to her. By supporting them, we aim to continue Joanne's legacy of kindness, compassion, and advocacy for those in need.
We are deeply grateful for any contributions in her memory and thank you for helping us honour Joanne's life and the causes she cared about so deeply.
