RAREing to run Manchester Half Marathon

Georgia Walsh

Hi everyone!

Thanks for coming onto our page to read our story and consider donating to our cause. On Sunday 18th May we will all be taking on the AJ Bell Great Manchester Half Marathon for 3 charities very close to our hearts - Sarcoma UK, The Brain Tumour Charity and Teenage Cancer Trust.

A bit about the four of us: Remus is funny and brilliant consultant doctor who loves to hike (and sometimes run), Suzy is a nurse and is a lover of sport but feels she will be the one vomiting at the finish line, Georgia is a senior clinical research practitioner who is new to the team and the speediest of the four (including the speed of drinking a pint), and Vicky is our wonderful senior clinical trial coordinator who is fairly new to running and is already dreaming of the vegan treats at the finish line.

Everyone sadly knows someone affected by cancer and we know that research is key to finding cures and alternative treatments. Anything you can donate would be fantastic and split evenly between our three chosen charities, which we have provided a bit more information on below:

Sarcoma UK - The only cancer charity in the UK focusing on all types of sarcoma. They are dedicated to improving overall awareness of sarcoma cancer, providing patient support and funding vital research projects to find new and better treatments.

The Brain Tumour Charity - They are the worlds leading brain tumour charity. They are also the largest dedicated funder of brain tumour research, providing several clinical trials we run at The Christie for our brain tumour patients and offer support, information lines and counselling services.

Teenage Cancer Trust - A charity committed to meeting the unique and vital neds of teenage and young adult cancer patients and improving access to clinical trials. They fund specialist hospital units, including one at The Christie, and youth support workers to ensure young people have dedicated staff and facilities to support them from diagnosis, through treatment and beyond.

BIG thanks in advance for all the support!!

Remus, Suzy, Georgia and Vicky
