Our close friend Robert Bown was tragically killed in a road traffic collision in December 2023 and in his honour a small group of us are tackling the national three peaks challenge in August 2025. The three peaks challenge will see us attempting to climb the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales in a 24-hour period. The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is 3064 metres (10,052ft). We know it will be an incredibly tough test, but one that we are looking forward to tackling together in honour of Rob.
Rob was a friend that could be relied on, always willing to listen, offer advice and check-in on others. He was taken from us suddenly and unexpectedly in circumstances that many of us have struggled to process. We have tried to support each other as best as we can through this time but, with a few of us having had our own personal mental health battles to contend with in the past, this experience has reaffirmed how difficult it is for men to process severe trauma and grieve such a tragic loss of a close friend. For this reason, the first charity we will be fundraising for is Andy’s Man Club. Andy’s Man Club coordinate weekly peer-to-peer support groups for men in the UK, breaking down the stigma of men’s mental health through the power of conversation.
The second charity we are fundraising for is RoadPeace. RoadPeace fight for justice for those killed on the road and provide information and support to bereaved loved ones. They have been a big support to Rob’s family since his death.
All donations would be thankfully received and greatly appreciated.
