Running the Mesa Half Marathon: Five Years Strong
In February 2020, I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Melanoma Skin Cancer. At the time, I was told my treatment plan would span five years—a timeline that felt overwhelming. But here I am, five years later, ready to celebrate this milestone by running the Mesa Half Marathon with our LRC community.
Melanoma is one of the fastest-growing cancers worldwide, with someone diagnosed every 10 minutes in the UK alone. During my journey, COVID disrupted my care, and I developed lymphoedema. Yet, with the support of two amazing charities—Melanoma UK and St. Teresa’s Hospice—I found the resources and encouragement to recover and rebuild.
Now it’s time to give back. These charities didn’t just help me heal—they empowered me to take control of my health and life again. By sponsoring my run, you’ll support:
Melanoma UK, fostering community and awareness for those affected by skin cancer.St. Teresa’s Hospice, providing compassionate care and essential treatments.Let’s work together to ensure these organisations can continue their life-changing work. Every step I take in this race is a testament to resilience, recovery, and the power of support.
With skin cancer rates continuing to rise, these organisations need our help to continue their vital work. Your donation will ensure they can support more patients and families as they navigate their own journeys to recovery.
Thank you for being part of this celebration and for helping me give back to those who gave me so much.
