I am crossing Greenland! This is an expedition I have been dreaming of ever since I first visited Greenland in 2016. In May 2025, in a small team, I will be travelling 575km across the Greenland icecap on skis, while pulling a 70+ kg sledge with all the gear I will need to survive in temperatures as low as -35C for one month.
While the aim of this trip is not primarily to fundraise, as the start date has approached and the training has come into full force it has made me reflect on how I got here - the Arctic is, in my opinion, the most beautiful place in the world; it has changed me, made me a much better human. It has been a huge privilege to learn how to survive and thrive in this environment over the last 8+ years. I am very aware of the fact that none of this would have been possible without the opportunities I have had in life - the greatest of which has been the amazing education I received. At work I am reminded every day how hard it is for some to get a good start in life. Therefore, I was hoping I could put the blood, sweat and tears of the next four months of training to good use and raise money for two incredible charities - War Child aims to protect and educate children in war zones, while the National Literacy Trust helps children and adult throughout the UK learn key literacy skills.
When it is dark, raining and windy over the next four months and I am dragging a tyre around the soggy tracks of the Forest of Dean, if you are moved to support me please donate to these charities!
Importantly, nothing of what you donate will go towards my trip - that is entirely paid for by myself.
