"Eileanóir Róisín Flaviana Ebreo. Born 09/11/2015 at 04:26."
It is incredible to think that Eileanóir would be 10 years old in 2025. Her death marked a devastating time in our lives and the support from family, friends, charity workers, and healthcare professionals helped us to process our grief and become stronger as a couple. 10 years on and we are lucky to have two beautiful, healthy children who both have to grow up knowing that they have a big sister who is dead but who is still a big part of our lives and who we have become.
To celebrate Eileanóir's 10th birthday and to support the charities that mean so much to Team Ebreo and countless other families, we are fundraising for both SANDs and Tommys. Between us we will be taking on 10 endurance challenges in 2025 - a mixture of half marathons, marathons, and multi-day ultra-cycling events across the UK and beyond. We would love for you to be involved either by doing an event / part of an event or simply coming along to cheer us on (we'll need it!)
A bit about both charities:
During that devastating time we found the SANDS charity an incredible support. SANDs, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, operates across the UK: supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby; working in partnership with health professionals to ensure that bereaved parents and families receive the best possible care; and promoting improvements in practice and funding research that could help to reduce the loss of babies’ lives. On a personal level they provide parents, family and friends as well as healthcare workers with the information and support they need to deal with their grief. This is done through well thought out books, online forums, their website, memorial services, memory gardens and local support groups. We have found all these things a huge help and would therefore like to help this great charity continue their good work.
Tommy's began as a campaign in a spare cupboard in St Thomas’ Hospital, Tommy’s is now the largest UK charity researching the causes and prevention of pregnancy complications, miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth. For more than 30 years, Tommy's have been leading the drive to increase knowledge of the causes of baby loss and premature birth and carry out world-leading research into pregnancy and baby loss.
