Lynx Recruitment Charity Raffle. (Company)

Having exceeded our initial target and raising over £3,000 for our first charity, Lynx Recruitment will now be raising money for 2 more wonderful charities that support children and their families going through cancer. I'm sure you've seen my previous posts on how we, as a business, have been affected, as one of our own has had their life turned upside down in such a short space of time. These charities play a vital role in the support, not only supporting the children themselves but also their families who are going through the unimaginable.

Below is a story from George, our Associate Partner, who experienced every parent's worse nightmare and explains why Abby's Heroes & Young Lives VS Cancer played such a crucial part -

"In 2022 my world changed forever.
One weekend in late October, my son Albert was showing “puffiness” around his eyes and nose area, so we decided to call 111… which lead to an ambulance being sent… which lead to a hospital visit… after all of the above deemed him to be showing “normal” signs of health and nothing overly concerning. My wife pushed for a blood test at our local hospital of Frimley and we were devastated to be told the very next day that he had Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL), which is a type of blood cancer that originates in the Bone Marrow.
Now, as you can imagine… the normal life that we knew was turned upside down! We felt numb like it was all an awful dream. I felt like a spectator to the seriousness of the situation going on around me.
We were immediately blue-lighted to Southampton and told we would be staying at the “Piam Brown” ward for the foreseeable future. Which at the time meant nothing to me and neither did I know what to expect.
We ended up spending on 12 weeks in our “new home” … my wife and I working to an “on & off” rota to ensure that we could also care for our 5-year-old daughter, who we were doing our very best to explain the reason why her baby brother was no longer waiting for her after school.
I could go into so much more detail about the above… but I just wanted to focus the next part of this text on the amazing charities that made our “awful situation”, so much more manageable.

Abbys Heroes & Young Lives VS Cancer – on day 1, one of your genuine earth angels from both charities came to speak to us, to comfort us and to basically let us know that they would be available to speak to whenever we needed them. Abbys Heroes passed us over an envelope, that contained leaflets of advice, free parking vouchers, and food & drink vouchers for Costa, M&S & WHSmith which could all be found downstairs in the Lobby of the Southampton Hospital. And when I say vouchers, they equated to way over £100s worth.
Every Friday, we would also be brought a Dominoes pizza for our dinner
Every Monday, we would be brought M&S Sandwiches for our lunch and M&S Meals for the fridge to get us through the week.
They would offer to sit with Albert if he slept, so we could get out for fresh air.
Young Lives VS Cancer educated us on what benefits that we could claim and take advantage of from a legal & caring perspective. Even transferring money over to us to cover the petrol for our cars that had been getting used back and forth between Bracknell & Southampton. They also brought in bags of goodies and toiletries to make our stay easier. We received regular visits from their representatives to either just talk or to share what we may need to make our lives easier.
Just the kindest and loveliest people that made our new reality more bearable.
We are actively trying to raise money for these amazing charities and the lovely service that they offer families in their most desperate & dark times."

Any donation is greatly appreciated and with the wonderful platform, givewheel provides, we are able to raise funds for both charities while highlighting the importance of who they are and what they do.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any donations you make ❤
