Rachel's 500km to Christmas

I will be combining running and cycling to achieve at least 500km from 1st November to just before Christmas to raise money for two charities.
These charities are very important to me and to my husband Steve, who has chosen them as his Captain’s charities at the Nevill Golf Club. They are Taylor Made Dreams and The Pickering Cancer Centre. Both are incredible and are at the centre of support and care in the community.

If you know me, then you know, I love my exercise. However, I am not a fan of anything longer than 30-60 mins (sorry golfers)! So, to make things harder to complete the 350km within 7 weeks, I will be doing a run every day +/- an indoor bike ride for no more than 30 mins each.
A hope the mantra of 'a little bit goes a long way' will prove worthy of this challenge but also as an incentive to you to donate to these charities. If we all contribute just a little bit, it goes a long way - obviously large donations go further!!!!
Thanks so much for your support and I look forward to seeing you all for a celebratory tipple over Christmas at some point.

The centre is a self-funding registered charity. It was established by a group of cancer patients, who recognised the need to somewhere to go, to relax and talk with others in a similar situation. The also realised that families, friends and carers needed a place to find information and talk freely, without burdening the patient or each other.

Taylor-Made Dreams will not only make dreams happen for children with life limiting illness; We will source and financially support empathetic therapeutic services alongside their difficult journey and help to leave lasting precious memories for families to cherish when time together is all far too short.
50 days & challenge complete ✅ 🏃♀️🚲👊🏻 716 km!!! 50 days of running and cycling every single day for a max of 30 mins for each discipline. 716km completed and an incredible £2405 raised so far for @thetmdteam and @pickeringcancer (still time to donate - link in my bio)! A little bit makes a big difference was the mantra for this challenge and I hope I have proved it worthy by completing it and smashing my target (originally at 350km)!. As a life long hater of long distance running I have managed to complete 5 marathons just from the running alone! (Ok over 50 days but not bad for me 😉) My lovely pilot friend Paul tells me 700km gets me approx to Aberdeen 🏴 so “fit like” and “foos yer doos” to any Aberdeen friends! (Thanks Jensie for the language tip bits)! Thank you so much to everyone for your donations and to @bradley_rose23 who’s kept me entertained on my Peloton every day! 0 likesWeek 6 done ✅ Only 8 days remaining out of 50! 🏃♀️🚲👊🏻 This week I have managed an epic 118.7km 🙌 I won’t tell you the total km reached so far - will keep the grand total till next week when I finish - am sure all 5 of my instagram followers will be sitting on the edge of their seats for the next 8 days! 0 likesWeek 4 done and another huge 105 km this week!! 28 days done, 21 to go - great to get over the half way point too! 🙌 384.5 km now complete🏃♀️🚴♀️👊 I am running and biking every day for 7 weeks to support @pickeringcancer and @thetmdteam. The mantra of 'a little bit goes a long way' is inspiring the challenge and doing something everyday is beginning to show what a great distance I can cover. I hope it inspires everyone to contribute what they can (however little) - it all goes a long way for these incredible charities. Xx

0 likesA tough but punchy first day (don’t worry I won’t be posting daily updates for the next 7 weeks)! Not gonna lie, not feeling my perkiest today but happy with the distance. On the back of 2 boozy days back in Dublin, 4 hrs sleep, whiplash and a PT session - managed a 4 km run and 14km bike ride 👊🏻 332km to go 👊🏻 You can follow my distances here, where I will post weekly updates X
