London Marathon 2023
Sunday 23rd April 2023

London Marathon 2023
For the fourth (and FINAL!!) time we have decided to put our bodies through several months of torture and training yet again, all in the name of three amazing causes.
Slow, continuous jogging over many miles (especially in what have been arctic conditions) is not our natural state to say the least, but we have high hopes this experience will transform us into athletic angels - the Beyonce, Kelly and Michelle of the running world!
Having trained for this marathon four times thanks to Covid, it is demanding every last bit of our mental and physical resilience and now the finish line is finally in sight we need your help!
We'd really appreciate your support as we raise money for causes that are very close to our hearts:
COMPTON CARE - this amazing local charity plays an incredible role helping people in the community living with an incurable condition and supporting their families. Lisa started working for the charity in the summer and has been absolutely blown away by the inspirational team there who go above and beyond every single day to help patients and their loved ones going through the worst time of their life. It's such an incredibly scary time when a loved one is facing a terminal illness and the support that hospices provide is never forgotten by those who are touched by their care.
ALZHEIMER'S RESEARCH UK - this charity means a great deal to Holly after losing her lovely nana Vera to Alzheimer's Disease. One in three people born in the UK this year will develop dementia in their lifetime, so your donations will help more people hold onto who they are and who they love for longer.
HEADWAY: THE BRAIN INJURY ASSOCIATION: After spending more time on the neuro ward at Stoke Hospital than she'd care to recall, Amy has experienced first hand the cruel and indiscriminate effects of brain injuries and their impact on families. Headway is there to provide support and advocacy to those impacted - from all ages and walks of life.
Please dig deep with your pennies and pounds (and we promise we won't ask again!) so that Compton Care, Alzheimer's Research UK and Headway can continue their vital work.
As well as raising cash for three fantastic charities, we are also using our marathon 'victory lap' as a way to honour and remember a very special little dog who touched our hearts and during his amazing life. Max the springer spaniel lived in the Lake District with his owner Kerry and two doggie brothers, Paddy and Harry, and between them, they have spread joy, hope and happiness to millions across the world. We were lucky enough to play a small part in Max's story and so as we take to the streets of London on 23rd April, we'll be wearing orange and running our race in his honour #poweredbymax
Please also pray for us - we REALLY need it!!!
Thank you!
