Meet the McKinnon Duo

Doug McKinnon (aka the Dad) is taking on his second Ironman almost 30 years after his first!
Doug is no stranger to a crazy challenge having cycled RAAM in 2022 as part of team, the Tour de France multiple times and The 3 Tour Challenge ( Tour de France, the Veulta and the Giro de Italia) to name a few!
He is a Patron of the amazing charity @CureLeukaemia and has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for them over the years. Doug’s charity work extends to helping raise funds for the brilliant work @CFC does helping kids with cancer.

Alex (aka the son) is ready to take on his first Ironman. Will he want to do another… he’ll let us know on Sunday 22nd!
Alex grew up a keen swimmer and now has the pleasure of working for the swimming holiday company Swimtrek. He was always going to be a decent cyclist and has been learning to love to run. Alex is following in his charitable father’s footsteps having completed marathon swims and team triathlons to raise money for fantastic causes and is now looking forward to reaping the rewards of completing his first Ironman and supporting cfc and cureleukaemia
