In October I will be embarking on the Calella-Barcelona Ironman! A major challenge, which has seen a rather gruelling training regime for the past 9 months and beyond. Whilst this is a personal challenge I have set myself, it is a goal that I have always wished to achieve and having discussed with family members as well as friends they have consistently asked if I am doing this for charity or if there is any way they can show support for me at all.
Whilst I am not swimming/cycling/running in the names of any charities, I thought that it would be a great opportunity to show support for two charities close to myself and know that the many months of training and the likely 12 hours+ of racing can go further than just fulfil my goals but also go someway to helping many others!
The two charities I have selected are Crisis UK and King's College Hospital Charity. Crisis UK are a charity I have always given to, I believe we can all see the impact of homelessness in society. Crisis UK do a fantastic job not only of working with the homeless and directly helping them out of their situation but also campaigning for the higher level changes required to solve the issue.
The King's College Hospital Charity is a charity that myself and family have become closely connected to over the past few years. The charity supports the workers at King's who do an absolutely fabulous job giving wonderful personal care to patients as well as looking to enhance future treatments to tackle those illnesses bringing about suffering at this moment in time. Myself and my family are indebted to the work that the staff at King's do and we'd love to just give that little bit back.
All support is greatly appreciated, you will be doing your bit to cheer me to that finish line and supporting two amazing charities!
