On 5th August 2024, Garry and Jodie Miller begin their attempt to summit Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
Mount Kilimanjaro is the world’s highest freestanding mountain, at 5895 m. Despite the eight-day climb, our real challenge is the high altitude, with summit temperatures as low as -15 degrees.
While our challenge is 100% self-funded, we aim to raise funds for our chosen charities.
• ‘The Firefighters Charity’
• ‘Parkinson's UK’
• ‘Pancreatic Cancer’
• 'Beloved Rabbits'
Garry
After completing 30 years with Strathclyde & The Scottish Fire & Rescue Service, I’m supporting ‘The Fire Fighters Charity', which provides rehabilitation services for physical and mental health to all operational firefighters, including our retired ex-service men and women and family members.
Parkinson's is a condition that has touched our family in recent years. I support the charity ‘Parkinson's UK’ to assist in their search for a cure and improved treatment.
Jodie
I have chosen to fundraise for Pancreatic Cancer UK after losing my beautiful gran to this illness, a short and unexpected loss to us. She was my favourite person and such a light in this world, and I hope I can make her proud of all my achievements so far.
The second charity I am fundraising for is ‘Beloved Rabbits’. I have volunteered with Beloved Rabbits for the last 3 years as a care assistant, foster career and social media manager. Beloved Rabbits aims to rescue and rehome rabbits. As a volunteer, I’ve gained a massive insight into the struggles small charities face. Therefore, I want to do my best to help this charity continue its mission.
Please support and spread the word where you can, all funds raised will be split evenly.
Thank you so much in advance.
Forever grateful
Garry and Jodie Miller
