Rodney Mansbridge Ascending Scafell Pike at 80!

Rodney Mansbridge intends to ascend Scafell Pike on his 80th Birthday 6th June 2024, in the wish of raising money for two very worthy charities - Help for Heroes and Gift of Sight.Rodney would be incredibly grateful if you could sponsor him in his challenge!
'I was born on the 6th June 1944, D-Day and I had planned on celebrating my 80th Birthday with a trip to the British Memorial in France, but foolishly didn’t get on with booking anything!! So instead I’ve decided to once again attempt to climb Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain 3209 feet (978mtrs) and in doing so, try to raise some money for charity.
I’ve always loved the Lake District after my first visit in 1962, with a couple of mates, in a Ford 7cwt (350kg), we pitched our tent and ran up and down Scafell in under 3hrs. I’ve been back many times, with my wife after our marriage in 1971, again with our children, when they were very young, it rained all week, but we went back for more!! Then trips with our grandchildren and friends. Ascending many of the peaks, walking around the smaller lakes and playing in the streams.
I am almost blind in one eye and have been all of my life, hence one of my chosen charities, The University of Southampton’s Gift of Sight Appeal which is dedicated to funding world-class research into the prevention and treatment of blindness.
The other charity I have chosen based in Downton, Help for Heroes, their mission is to ensure that everyone in the UK Armed Forces community lives well after servicing their country. Supporting veterans and their families by giving life-changing help, no matter when or where they served.
I am sure I’m going to enjoy this adventure, along with my small support team of family, it is nevertheless a huge challenge, please help me get to the top by giving generously.Ben Nevis next year??!🤞😎
Thank you Rodney'
