'There and back again'.. a 52km trek
3182
On Friday 14th June, our team, alongside partners and beneficiaries will be taking on the undulating terrain of the Jurassic Coast in an epic 'there and back again' challenge. Walking from HMP Portland to Lulworth Cove will see the team take on massive accents and steep descents, after hours of walking, the team will then turn around and walk all the way back to HMP Portland to cross the finish line. A whooping total of 52km, taking in 450m of elevation and doing so to raise awareness of the alarmingly high level of reoffending (52%) within the UK.
Reoffending isn't a nuisance problem which can be fixed by tough rhetoric and more time locked away. It takes care and compassion to heal those who have suffered immense trauma before, during and after prison, enabling them to live freely and contribute to mainstream society.
