Race the Sun Jurassic Coast Off Road Triathlon (29/6) and Richmond Park Half Marathon (14/7)

Simon and I like a challenge in a desperate bid to prove we are not getting too old, yet! Whilst we try to stay fit and healthy ish, this will be the first triathlon style event for either of us. Please don't expect world records, but we will get it done with smiles on our faces!

We are going to ride, run and paddle over a 62km course, and we are fundraising for two incredible charities: Action Medical Research who are organising the event, and the MS Society who are a charity really close to our hearts.

The event itself starts off with a hilly off road cycle of 45km, and then an equally bumpy 15km hike and a 3km paddle on the sea. It should take us about 6 hours to complete, so the motivation of doing it for two wonderful causes will really help get us up the hills and across the waves!

Then on 14th July the newly formed staff running club, "RPA Staff Run Because Mr Whelan Told Us To" (or the catchily named RPASRBMWTUT) are taking part in the Richmond Park 5k, 10k and Half Marathon. For this one you could come along to cheer for your 'heroes'! You could even join in and have a go at beating Ms Hansom, if you're brave enough. We are still fundraising for these two excellent causes on this event, too.

Action Medical Research has been funding medical breakthroughs for over 70 years.
They have helped to beat polio, fight meningitis, prevent stillbirths and develop ultrasound scanning in pregnancy, helping to save thousands of children’s lives and change many more. Today, they continue to tackle the challenges disease and disability present by funding high quality research to save and change children’s lives, including research to help children affected by COVID-19 and long COVID.

The MS Society fund world-leading research, share the latest information and campaign for everyone's rights. Together the MS Society make a community and together we can help stop MS. They understand what life’s like with MS which is why they’re researching, writing, campaigning and fighting. Running, walking, caring and talking. Together, we are strong enough to stop MS.
