The race
The Yukon 1000 follows the footsteps of early adventurers, immersing participants in the raw, untouched wilderness that few humans will ever experience. The Yukon 1000 race starts in Whitehorse and continues down river all the way to the Alaska Pipeline Bridge on the Dalton Highway, 1,000 miles downstream. The risk
Some are worried about bears. Most are nervous about fallen trees and the fast-flowing river. All are hugely respectful of the fact that you are in the middle of nowhere and have to have the resource and resilience to survive alone.
As the Yukon 1000 website says, “More people have been up Everest than have been beyond Dawson City.”
The reason
The Yukon 1000 is undoubtedly a physical challenge but it is also very much a mental challenge. We all have our own mental challenges, we all know friends and family that have suffered from mental challenges. With your support, we are aiming to raise in excess of £20,000 for two charities that help and support those facing such challenges:
