Team Western and Maryhill Hairy Haggis Relay

This year, we're expanding in numbers and strength! Team Western + Maryhill are gearing up once again to tackle the Edinburgh Marathon in support of both the Beatson and Maryhill Tennis Club. Can you join us in raising as much as possible?

Last year, we had 2 teams and raised an astounding £1,545 for charity. This year, Team Western has grown to 5 teams, ready to take on the Hairy Haggis Edinburgh Marathon relay once again and raise funds for both the Beatson Cancer Charity and Maryhill Community Tennis Club! We've been training over the past few weeks, and the competition is heating up. Western has been an incredible support, organizing fundraisers year after year, and now we invite you to join us in our goal to reach an amazing £3,000, to be split between both charities. Leading up to the big day, we plan to host some small fundraising events to ensure you feel like a part of the journey.

We're raising funds for Beatson to support their remarkable efforts that they do to help those affected by cancer. Their work in advancing specialist care, research, and education is instrumental in creating a better future for cancer patients and their families. The Beatson holds a special place in Western's heart, having looked after some of our incredible club members in their brave fight against cancer. Especially, this past year with one of our own coaches diagnosed with cancer, and the support they have received from Beatson is invaluable.

Additionally, we're supporting Maryhill Community Tennis Club, which has made incredible strides in refurbishing three full courts and four mini courts! Their mission to provide affordable, accessible public courts has opened up tennis to everyone in the community. Maryhill continues to offer free tennis lessons and camps during the holidays, promoting a growing community and even fielding teams in the West of Scotland league. We aim to raise funds to further expand the club, providing funding for aspiring coaches, amenities like changing blocks and toilets, and to continue offering free tennis lessons to children, ensuring that tennis remains accessible to all.
