In 2009, I suffered a spontaneous pneumothorax (aka a collapsed lung). I was in hospital for 10 days, needed surgery, and didn't fully recover for months. During that time, I vowed that, when I was back to full health, I'd do something to raise money for the British Lung Foundation (now called Asthma + Lung UK), which I'd never heard of until then.
15 short years later, I've finally gotten around to it. I was reminded of my vow when the first pub landlord I worked for passed away from a lung-related condition in 2022.
However, I also want to raise money for a similarly lesser-known charity called Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide (SoBS), which is the only UK-based organisation offering peer-led support to adults impacted by suicide loss. A close friend tragically lost his sister to suicide last November, and whilst it's vital to fund suicide prevention charities, I want to do something for those supporting those left behind.
Anything you can donate will be greatly appreciated and split equally between these two causes. Thank you.
