Georgia is cutting her hair for charity
1936
February 2024And that’s a wrap … thank you everyone!
Hello and Thank You!A little later than expected (a few colds and return to school / work scheduling conflicts) but I’m finally updating with photos of the big cut! We’ve generated a whopping 12 inches of hair to be used by the Little Princess Trust for their wigs and raised important funds for both the production of the wig by LPT and for our chosen charity, Alzheimer’s Research UK.Georgia is ABSOLUTELY THRILLED with her short hair and wants to go even shorter … we’ve convinced her to wait a bit until the weather warms up a bit! Thanks everyone 🧡💙
**update 13 Dec**THANK YOU everyone! We are absolutely blown away by the support you’ve shown in sponsoring Georgia and with your donations to these two important charities. We’re going to eke out a few more millimetres over the Christmas holidays and then chop it all off before school starts back in January. We’re hoping to reach at least 30cm (12in) which LPT recommends for wigs. We’ll post before and after pics in January.
*update 1st Dec* Thank you everyone for your kind donations! I can’t believe I raised £400 - when I only hoped to reach £100! Still a couple weeks to the big chop, so if you can sponsor me that would be amazing!
My name is Georgia and I have been growing my hair to donate to the Little Princess Trust. My whole life, lots of people said ‘don’t ever cut your hair’ but this seemed like a really good reason to chop it off!
The Little Princess Trust provides free real hair wigs to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions.
I am fundraising as I want to help pay the cost of making the wig (making and fitting the wig costs £700! ) and I also want to give money to fund dementia research.
My Granddad had Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia. He died just before I turned three so I don't remember him very much. His two sisters also had dementia which made me think it runs in families. My Dad says Grandma is starting to get forgetful too. She was an amazing artist - that’s her portrait of me when I was little.
Research shows nearly a million people in the UK have dementia. There is no cure - yet! With the money raised for dementia research we could help find treatments and figure out how dementia starts .I want to raise awareness about it because it is a sad and scary thing to experience and my friends may have sick grandparents too.
My hair is very nearly long enough to make a wig so I am creating this in case you can donate - mum will post some ‘after’ pics around New Year.
