Hi there, My name is Kathie and I am heading up the wonderful "Team Stritch" who have come together for some years now annually to raise funds for worthy charities and causes. The past few years we have come together for the month of May to do a challenge, that is to walk, run, jog, cycle, 5km each day for the month of May.Each team member has a small goal each to raise some money whilst doing this significant challenge by asking family friends and colleagues to support them. And together we will cover a lot of miles and hopefully raise a lot of money for a greater good. This year I chose a really important cause close to my heart. Graham Lee is a highly respected jockey, from Galway Ireland. He is known for his success in both jump racing and flat racing, a rare achievement, with career highlights including winning the 2004 Grand National in Aintree and the Ascot Gold Cup in 2015.Graham also happens to be my husbands first cousin and someone we greatly admire for many years.Unfortunately in November 2023, Graham suffered a serious spinal injury in a fall during a race at Newcastle. The accident left him paralysed from the neck down. This as you can imagine has had huge life altering consequences for Graham and his family, his wife Becky and children Amy and Robbie. Yet despite the challenges Graham remains positive and determined.Graham and his family would not have been able to get as far as they have were it not for some charities most notably, the Injured Jockeys Fund.Graham requires support round the clock and medical costs etc are huge.I want our incredible team to give back to an amazing charity The Injured Jockeys Fund so that they can continue to provide support to families and people like Graham. When Graham had his injury they helped with adapting his home to make it wheelchair accessible, providing specialised equipment, daily physio sessions, carers etc.The Injured Jockeys Fund provides appropriate support in a prompt and sympathetic manner to those jockeys past or present who are injured, unable to ride, or generally in need.Try to imagine, being so active and riding horses every single day to suddenly being unable to walk, dress, or even take a drink. To understand the privilege we have each day to put our two feet on the floor each morning should be all the motivation we need to get up, get out and complete this challenge and raise lots of funds in the process.Thank you so much to those of you who donate to support this challenge and cause. We appreciate every single donation no matter how big or small!Lets go Team!!!Kathie
