Sadly, on the morning of 1st of August 2023, Shelagh Griffiths passed away at Heol Don Nursing Home Cardiff aged 82 with her family by her side. The care and kindness shown by her friends, neighbours, chapel members and the people of Efail Isaf enabled her to live at home with Alzheimer’s for so long.
This page donates equally to 2 charities that have become very close to the family over the past few years.
1. Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. They note, until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
2. Dementia UK fund specialist Admiral Nurses who provide life-changing support to help families through the fear and confusion of dementia. These nurses are called “Admiral nurses” after Joseph Levy CBE BEM, whose family founded the charity. His family used to call him “Admiral” because of his love of sailing. Karen and Chris have benefitted hugely from the support offered by the Admiral nurses who were critical in signposting help and support available for Shelagh. The Admiral nurses also support families with bereavement counselling.
Both charities will be grateful for your contributions in memory of Shelagh Ann Griffiths.
