Firefighters' Half Marathon... IN PROTECTIVE CLOTHING!

On 3rd May 2026, a group of 25 Firefighters from West Midlands Fire Service will be running the AJ Bell Birmingham Half Marathon in our Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

One team (names below), from the start line to the finish line, raising vital funds for 2 charities that are close to our hearts.

Our PPE is fantastic at keeping the flames and heat away from our bodies during firefighting but it also doesn't allow heat inside to escape either! As such, attempting to run any great distance whilst wearing it, is going to be incredibly challenging for us all.

Please dig as deep as you possibly can to donate and be sure to leave messages of encouragement, ensuring you name any of the individual Firefighters that you may be supporting.

Much love to every single one of you who donates, from all of the team:

Aaron (Louis) Smith, Adam Askey, Adam Joyce, Alex Nicholls, Anthenia Dimitriou, Arron Lennon, Brandon Ricketts, Chris Kirby, Chris Turner, David Sharratt, Dillon Robinson, Emma Perry, Georgina Lewin, Harry Awome, Jason O'Callaghan, Joshua Deakin, Kieran McPike, Mark Cope, Matt Taylor, Rachel Boxley, Rhys Lewis, Ryan Gough, Shay Devlia, Tayla Edinburgh, Zaheer Asghar
