Tom and Patrick have (perhaps foolishly) decided to spend two days of the 2026 Easter weekend running 100km around the Isle of Arran in Scotland. This will see them cover more than a marathon distance each day as they battle challenging profiles, multiple terrains and the unpredictable weather that is typical of this amazing island.
The M-Arran-thon.
The motivation for doing this challenge is to raise money for three charities that are particularly close to their hearts after a difficult 2025. All three charities will benefit hugely from any donation you are able to make – and to make things easier one single fundraising page has been created and donations will be divided equally. They both thank you in advance for any donation that you feel able to make – it will really help to keep them motivated over the coming months!
The British Heart Foundation – a key motivation for this challenge is to commemorate the life of Teresa Wilson, a hugely influential and much missed mother in law to Tom and aunt to Patrick. Almost a year ago to the day a huge proportion of the family were all in Arran together, and this challenge seems a fitting way to begin to commemorate a wonderful life. The work of the British Heart Foundation is truly amazing, and any donation will keep advancing the groundbreaking technologies being developed and supporting others, including other members of Tom & Patrick’s family.
Naomi House – 2025 brought the tragic and still unbelievable news that Tom's niece Selina was terminally ill. Obviously, there is nothing that will ever make this 'OK', but the support provided by Naomi House continues to inspire belief in humanity. The nurses provide unbelievable care to children and their wider families alike – and donations are paramount to this care continuing. Support provided really does help in often the most devastating of circumstances – and all donations will be put to good use.
The Favela Foundation - In 2017, Patrick set up The Favela Foundation to support social and educational projects in the favelas of Brazil. Favela communities are home to some of the most resourceful and driven people, but many do not have access to the resources, infrastructure and support to fulfil their potential. The Favela Foundation believes in the power of supporting local role models to inspire and empower young people to succeed in whatever they might choose to do in the future.

The Favela Foundation was set up in 2017 with a very simple goal, to contribute to the development and growth of sustainable social and educational projects in the favelas of Brazil. It is our firm belief that access to education and social welfare should not be restrictive and we, together with partners across Brazil, work towards a brighter future.
