I am taking part in the London Marathon on April 26th. I will be running 1 mile on the first of April and 2 on the second, right up to, and including, 26 on the 26th. This will be a total of 351, and while everyone else doing the London marathon will be resting up the day before, I will be running 25 miles on the 25th.
The 2 charities I’m fundraising for are Calvert Devon and The Injured Jockeys Fund.
Calvert Devon are situated by the picturesque Whistleandpound reservoir on exmoor. It’s a fantastic activity centre where whole families who have a disabled adult or child in them can enjoy exceptional amounts of different activities, from sailing and canoeing, to carriage driving, and trapeze and swing.
This charity is close to my heart as my nephew Reuben, has Lowes syndrome; Lowes syndrome affects the eyes kidneys and muscles along with many other things. This means that Reuben struggles to take in calcium and phosphorus so his bones are weak meaning he has broken many at the age of just 5.
The Injured Jockeys Fund (IJF) is also very close to my heart, as I have many friends they have helped out; they provide support for jockeys in racing, and after their career. Horse racing is the only sport in which the participants are followed by an ambulance, most jockeys will have a bad injury at some point in their career and the IJF provide great help in getting the jockeys back fit and healthy again. If a jockey suffers a career ending injury the IJF will support them as long as is required.
