Paso a Paso - Running from the North of Spain to the South
In May 2026, we are running the entire length of Spain (~1,400Km) - from the northernmost point down to Tarifa in the South - as a continuous relay. One of us will always be running, while the others deal with navigation, food, sleep, logistics and keeping the energy up. The plan is to do it in five days. That means ~40km, per person, per day with minimal sleep, living out of an RV, and covering mountain terrain to coastal roads in the same week. Fatigue will build quickly as each day passes, and recovery time will be limited. There is also no backup option — if someone breaks down, the relay has to keep moving. We are not professional athletes - just a group of guys who enjoy taking on big challenges and want to raise awareness for three important causes close to our families and friends. The funds raised will be going towards: • Alzheimers Society • Crohn's & Colitis UK • Target Ovarian Cancer These causes are not abstract to us: • Alex’s (middle right) father and Brett’s (second far right) soon-to-be father-in-law, Graham, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in November 2024. He has embraced the diagnosis, taking it as it comes and continues to approach life day-by-day despite the challenges it has brought for him and for those around him. Alzheimer’s affects the whole family, and there is currently no cure. While much remains unknown, better support, care, and research make a real difference for families living with the condition. • Toby’s (middle) twin brother Harry was diagnosed with Crohns at just 10 years old. It’s a cruel and chronic disease that affects the whole digestive track causing acute pain and inflammation. Fast forward to today he’s had 2 major surgeries to remove parts of his bowel. It’s been an incredibly challenging journey but one that he deals with admirably. Crohns and Colitus UK continually fund research to find better treatments and hopefully one day find a cure. • Finally, Oli’s (far left) girlfriend’s mother Janet, is currently bravely taking on her third battle with ovarian cancer. Having been first diagnosed in 2021, her strength and positivity throughout has been incredible. Ovarian cancer has also affected other families within our close friendship circle, reminding us how common this disease is and why better awareness and research matter so much. These are conditions that affect millions of people and families, changing lives gradually and relentlessly. Running across Spain won’t fix that, but the funds raised can help support the people and organisations that are trying to. We would hugely appreciate any donation you can offer, no matter how big or small! We would also love if you could share the page with your friends and family, it will make a real difference. Please see below link to our social page for you to follow along. We will be hosting events throughout the next four months, so keep an eye out on the Instagram.
