White Horse Half Marathon for OXPIP and Thrombosis UK

On 29th March 2026 I'll be running the White Horse Half Marathon in aid of the Oxford Parent Infant Project and Thrombosis UK.
This will be a significant physical challenge for me having injured my knee in 2022 and assuming running any longer distances was off the cards. Having slowly built up my running this year, I'm hoping I will survive, but feel really motivated to raise some money for the two charities below.

Thrombosis UK - having lost our lovely friend Holly in May 2025, as other friends have done, I was keen to do something in her honour. We miss her every day and her determination for life was so inspiring. Something I know I'll be thinking about to get through this training and the race! Thrombosis UK do incredible work to save lives and prevent suffering caused by blood clots.

Oxford Parent Infant Project (OXPIP) supported me through a very challenging time on maternity leave when NHS services seemingly didn't have anything to help me. They specialise in parent infant relationships providing therapeutic help to families and also training to share their expertise with staff across the system. I have since become a Trustee of the charity and am honoured to be their first Trustee to have come through the service and now championing parent voice.

Please do spare what you can for these two amazing charities and follow my training journey on Strava over the next 12 weeks: https://www.strava.com/athletes/beccasmith18

OXPIP offers intensive therapeutic help to parents and their babies in Oxfordshire and surrounding areas in the first two years. We support families by working with parents and infant together, to build on the positive, to boost parental confidence, and help the parents be led by the needs of the baby. We know that OXPIP's unique approach can, and does help.
