Force Atlantic 2026 – Rowing for Resilience, Leadership, and Legacy
In December 2026, five members of Oxford University Officers’ Training Corps (OUOTC) will embark on an extraordinary journey: rowing over 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean, completely unsupported, as part of the World’s Toughest Row – Atlantic.
From the volcanic shores of San Sebastián de La Gomera to the tropical haven of Nelson’s Dockyard, Antigua, the team will face mountainous seas, sleep deprivation, salt sores, and extreme fatigue — all in a specially designed 8.6m ocean rowing boat. Operating on a relentless 3-hours-on, 2-hours-off schedule for up to 45 days, they will rely on teamwork, resilience, and sheer determination to complete one of the world’s most revered physical challenges.
But Force Atlantic 2026 is about more than just crossing an ocean.
This project is a powerful showcase of how the British Army and its Officer Training Corps develop individuals to reach their full potential — personally and professionally. The team represents the full spectrum of Army service: Regular, Reserve, FTRS, Soldier, and Officer, united by a shared commitment to leadership, growth, and service.
Why We Row
We row for purpose. Each stroke of the oars is a tribute to the causes that matter most to us. Our chosen charities are deeply personal:
- RE:ACT – Veteran-led rapid disaster response, chosen by two members of the team who saw their efforts following the huge earthquake in Morocco in September 2023.
- BIG MOOSE – Supporting mental health and suicide prevention for all through therapy - for free.
- HEAD UP – Empowering serving Forces personnel and veterans through mental resilience. Head Up are a charity OUOTC have a long standing relationship with who deliver huge support for our veterans.
- PANCREATIC CANCER UK – In memory of a beloved family member lost too soon.
These causes are not symbolic — they are woven into the lives and stories of our crew. By supporting Force Atlantic, you’re not just helping us reach Antigua — you’re helping us change lives.
