Anthony Moriarty, John Moriarty and Paul Byrne’s Orlaith the way to Paris 2026

Following the success of our first three charity cycles, our amazing cyclists and dedicated support team are taking to the road (and hills) once more to raise money for two more fantastic charities.

Orlaith the Way to Paris 2026 is a three-day charity cycle taking the team from London to Paris, turning hard earned miles into meaningful charitable impact for two very deserving charities carefully chosen by the team.

Our first charity, Birmingham Children's Hospital was inspired in recognition of the extraordinary journey had to date by Rory Lynch, son of two of our fabulous cyclists Vicky and Jon, as well as the hospital treating and supporting other cyclist's children and family members also.

Rory was born six weeks premature with Congenital Nephrotic Syndrome, a rare kidney disorder affecting just 1 in 100,000 children. At only ten days old, he was admitted to Birmingham Children’s Hospital, where he remained an inpatient on Ward 1 until his first birthday

Because of the specialist expertise at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Rory was given the chance not just to survive, but to thrive. Today, he is enjoying school, games and the simple joys of childhood that once felt uncertain. Funds raised will help ensure other children facing complex, life-threatening conditions receive the same pioneering treatment, round-the-clock care and family support when they need it most

Our second charity was chosen in a commitment to supporting family and charities on both sides of the Irish Sea, Donegal Hospice
providing specialist palliative care and valuable end of life support to the community living in Donegal. A place and cause held close in the hearts of many of the cyclist taking part!

The compassionate work of Donegal Hospice based in Letterkenny, has an inpatient unit which operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Through its Community Palliative Care Team also, the hospice delivers expert care in patients’ own homes — ensuring comfort, dignity and support at the most difficult of times. The hospice began its work back in 1988 when a small group of local people rallied together to raise funds for the first home care nurse in Donegal and it has grown now to a dedicated service that is invaluable to the community it serves.

In addition to our fundraising, our cycle would like to highlight the vital importance of organ donation. Rory's dad gave him the gift of life by donating a kidney to Rory at the age of four. Over the coming years it is likely that Rory will need another donor at some point in his life. Organ donation gives hope to people and their families facing life threatening illness. More information is available about organ donation on www.organdonation.nhs.uk

Thank you for taking the time to read our page. Any donation, no matter how big or small is hugely appreciated and will help the team on their mission to giving back to the two wonderful charities we are supporting.

With love and thanks,

The Orlaith the Way to Paris team
